In addition to your Bennie detox, follow these 5 steps to help you achieve your beach body!
1. Drink lots of water
We can't stress this enough. It is so important to stay hydrated. It will clear up your skin, boost energy and help keep you full between meals - you'll be grateful for water on those long days at the beach!
2. Exercise regularly
Cardio exercises such as running, jogging, walking, biking and/or swimming are great for burning calories and speeding up your metabolism. Try doing 30 minutes of cardio at least 3-5 times a week. Try toning exercises and weight lifting to tighten your body. Yoga and Pilates are fantastic ways to tone and strengthen your overall body.
3. Maintain a healthy, balanced diet
Try to eat protein-rich foods that will fill you up such as chicken, fish and turkey. If you are vegetarian, try tofu, tempeh and eggs. Reduce the amount of empty carbs you are consuming, such as bread, pasta and rice - when you do eat them, replace with a whole grain version. Eat fruits and vegetables as they are vitamin-rich, help fill you up and improve skin clarity. Eliminate junk food and sweets out of your diet - replace with healthier options such as fruit, peanut butter, honey and dark chocolate to reduce those sweet cravings.
4. Avoid alcohol
Most alcoholic drinks are full of calories (some cocktails contain 700 calories!). However let's face it, as festive season is about to start in Australia, you are likely to experience a lot more temptations! If you do drink, stick with red wine or for mixed drinks, choose soda water over soda/soft drink, which contain lots of sugar.
5. Stay motivated!
Find a workout or diet buddy so you can motivate each other, especially when motivations gets low! Remember why you started. Getting your body ready for summer can be tough, especially with the long list of Christmas parties, work breakups, Christmas and New Years ahead. If you feel like giving up, imagine yourself after you have achieved your goals and how you will feel. Finally, give yourself a break from time to time. Don't torture yourself, if you are craving a piece of Christmas pudding, opt for a small piece without cream!
Happy Summer! xxx
